Jennifer represents a wide variety of clients, focusing her practice on both general civil litigation and immigration. In the civil litigation arena, Jennifer handles matters ranging from mechanic’s liens and construction litigation to real estate disputes and landlord-tenant issues, and everything in between.
She also advises individuals and businesses alike on complex immigration matters. From filing family-based or employment-based petitions to helping individuals adjust status and consular process, Jennifer helps her clients through all phases of the immigration process. Additionally, she litigates matters in immigration court, helping clients defend against removal and deportation.
Jennifer joined Kelly, Remmel & Zimmerman in 2002, and became a shareholder in the firm in 2009. She received her undergraduate degree in 1997 from the University of Tulsa and then attended law school at the University of Maine School of Law, where she graduated in 2000 cum laude. After graduating from law school, Jennifer clerked for the Maine Superior Court with the Hon. Justices Nancy Mills, Robert E. Crowley, Thomas E. Humphrey and Stephen L. Perkins. The following year, she served as law clerk to the Hon. Justice Donald G. Alexander of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.
Professional and Civic Activities
Jennifer places great emphasis on helping the immigrant community. For many years, she has provided pro bono legal services to asylees and immigrants as a panel member of the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project (ILAP). She served as President of the ILAP Board of Directors from 2012 to 2016.

Distinctions and Recognitions
Jennifer holds the highest rating of “AV® Preeminent™” from the highly recognized Martindale-Hubble lawyer rating firm. She has been selected for inclusion in the New England Super Lawyers publication from 2014 to 2017 in the fields of general litigation and immigration and was previously selected as a New England Rising Star from 2011 to 2013. In the summer of 2013, Jennifer was named a “Pro Bono Hero” by the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) for her years of service to the immigrant community, her work with the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project (ILAP), and her pro bono service.
On January 25, 2013, Jennifer was awarded Maine Equal Justice Partners’ prestigious Equal Justice Hero Award, which honors legal professionals who have made a significant contribution to strengthening access to justice in Maine.
In recognition of the pro bono service she provides to Maine’s low income individuals, Jennifer has been recognized by the Katahdin Counsel Recognition Program since 2012.
The Maine Bar Foundation honored Jennifer with the Arnie MacDonald Maine Bar Fellows New Lawyer Award in January 2011. The award is reserved for a lawyer who has demonstrated an “uncompromising dedication to integrity and high personal and professional ethical standards,” exemplified the “ideals of increasing access to justice,” “[m]ade outstanding and recognized contributions to the legal profession and to the public good through Pro Bono service,” and demonstrated “a strong commitment to the objectives and purposes of the Maine Bar Foundation.”
Jennifer was awarded Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project’s 2009 Attorney of the Year Award for “donating countless hours to the representation of noncitizens and for her deep dedication to the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project and to Maine’s immigrants.”
The University of Maine School of Law Women’s Law Association honored Jennifer with the 2007 Outstanding Alumna Award “in recognition of her distinguished achievements in legal practice and her noteworthy contributions to the Maine Bar.”
