KRZ Attorney Stephen Koerting Instructs Maine Harbor Masters on State Laws

On March 4, 2021, KRZ Admiralty Attorney Stephen Koerting instructed harbor masters from cities and towns across the State of Maine during the Maine Harbor Masters Association’s Annual Conference and Training. The Annual Conference is regularly hosted at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine, but was conducted on Zoom due to COVID precautions. Annual training is a requirement for all harbor masters across the state upon appointment to their position and covers a variety of topics over several sessions including mooring systems, aquaculture, submerged lands, and laws impacting boats and the role of harbor masters. Attorney Koerting was the first presenter to the training’s attendees on the topic of State Harbor Master laws found in Title 38 of the Maine Revised Statutes, as well as inland water and vessel operation statutes found in Title 12.
