On June 18, 2023, the TITAN submersible lost contact with its surface vessel and crew while on a dive to the Titanic wreckage with five passengers on board. After a lengthy and multi-faceted search and rescue effort, the wreckage was located on the ocean floor with presumed human remains.
In the wake of the TITAN submersible tragedy and as it was unfolding, multiple international media publications including the Associated Press (AP) and Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) interviewed KRZ maritime law attorney Stephen Koerting regarding the United States Coast Guard search and rescue operations as well as potential impacts on legal action which may result from the tragedy. The news reports citing Attorney Koerting were published across the globe including ABC News, NBC Bay Area, Boston Herald, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and the Jerusalem Post.
